Doug Overton’s Core Philosophy: There is NO OPPONENT.

“No Opponent” means that the only thing that stands between you and greatness is the work. NOT OPPOSITION.

NBA TEAMS

As the NBA’s first-ever player turned Director of Player Development of an NBA Franchise (Philadelphia 76ers) in 2004, Overton is excited to make himself available to serious players and their families through the NO OPPONENT Elite Basketball Training Academy. Coach Doug is a 30-year basketball professional having played 12 years with the Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets and five other NBA teams, with a more than decade-long career assistant coaching some of the most regarded NBA franchises and reputable NCAA basketball programs. He’s mentored, trained and coached the likes of NBA Champion Rasheed Wallace, Lou Williams (NBA Sixth Man of the Year), NBA Champion Kyle Lowry, the late Rasual Butler, Milwaukee Bucks Center Brook Lopez, and 2020 Pennsylvania Gatorade Player-of-the-Year, Diamond Johnson.

INTL’ TEAMS

Coach Doug is one of the most coveted trainers on the East Coast and internationally, and is doted on worldwide as the first National Basketball League (NBL) Player to play in the NBA after a single season with Australia’s Illawarra Hawks in 1992.

Since 1992 Coach Doug has kept his annual commitment to the North Philadelphia neighborhood where he grew up, by continuing to facilitate the Doug Overton Basketball Camp. Each summer, for more than two decades, he’s conducted this week-long camp at Simons Playground on the courts where he sharpened his skills. This camp is the longest consecutively run free basketball camp for inner city youth in Philadelphia history.

COACHING

Coach Doug is a graduate of Dobbins Technical High School, a proud LaSalle University alumnus, and an all-star member of the LaSalle University Men’s Basketball team where he scored more than 1,700 points and earned a place not only in the LaSalle University Hall of Athletes, but also the Big Five and Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. After an outstanding collegiate career which included leading his team to three NCAA appearances, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary/Special Education.
